What is the maximum strength line you can put on a Zebco 404 reel?

What is the maximum strength line you can put on a Zebco 404 reel?They come with 15lb test line but could you put 17 lb test line on it.
I use this reel when fishing Artificial lures,
I usually go for Redfish, speckeld trout, sometimes bass and cats

The Zebco 404 doesn’t have the largest spool capacity there are. There is a rule that some people go by, which is that you have to have 100 yards of line in the reel, at least. The Zebco 404 only holds 75 yards of 15 lb. line. It is more suited for 12 lb. line, but that is just how it was manufactured. I would not recommend putting 17 lb. line in the reel. It will only hold 50 yards of it. You’ll probably cast 20 yards of it out a cast, what if some big carp/catfish takes your bait and runs? It will spool you in a second.

I say take the 15 lb. off, and spool it up with 12 lb. Stren. Or even 10 lb. What kind of fish are you fishing for?
